Havant, Hampshire and Brighton, Sussex, England: 29 June 2020

It was so special to once again visit the birthplace of my Nana, and to take Cale and Nico there.

We visited the house that Nana, along with her siblings, lived before emigrating, at the age of 12, to NZ in about 1927.  Around the corner from the terraced house she lived, is Coombe Road Primary School she attended.  I also recall Nana talking about the street lamps. They were oil lamps that would be lit every day.  Now the lamp stands are still there, however they now have modern light fittings on them.

Also on the agenda was the bandstand on the promenade.  I have memories of my Nana telling me that her father or grandfather, used to conduct on this bandstand.

A wander through The Lanes was nothing like it was the last time we visited in 1998.  Because of Covid-19 The Lanes were largely empty.  The Brighton Palace Pier was enjoyed from a distance, as it was closed, also due to Covid-19.  It is due to open one week after we visited.

Beautiful country house along our journey.

Narrow country lane along our journey.

Pretty field of flowers along the way.

Driving towards the Smith's Arms. Its just up on the right in the gap, tucked behind the brown brick house.

Smith's Arms Pub.
Brad and I had a pint at this pub in 2003.  It was apparently the smallest pub in England.
