London - Day 11: Thames River Trip, Prospect of Whitby, Cascade Towers, Surrey Quays - 14 July 2020

Today we bought a family day roamer ticket for the Thames Clipper boat, and went down the river first, past the Prospect of Whitby, Barley Mow, Canary Wharf and our old apartment building, Cascade Towers, to North Greenwich.  We changed boats here to head back up river and got off at Surrey Quays to wander down to Decathlon.

From here we got the 'overground' train to Wapping and walked to The Prospect of Whitby pub. We didn't have time to visit here the other day when we were out this way, so today we popped in for a late lunch. Very yummy indeed!!  This pub is around 500 years old!!

Afterwards we wandered through the docks back to Tower Bridge and around the Tower of London to get the Thames Clipper back up the river.  We noted when passing the ticket office for the Tower of London, that it was now open.  A quick check online confirmed this, so we booked another nights accommodation at our hotel, and ticket to visit.  Once our boat arrived when headed up to Embankment to change boats again, then on past Battersea Power Station (currently being converted into apartment living), to Chelsea Harbour, switched boats again to head back towards the City and got off at Blackfriars before walking over the Millennium Bridge and back to our hotel.

Below are some photographs along our journey. I've included some significant descriptions where necessary.

Barley Mow (now The Narrow) at Limehouse

Cascade Towers where we first lived when we moved to London. First apartment was facing the other way, so towards the Millennium Dome, on level five, and the second apartment was on this side on level seven.

The tall building just to the right of Cascade Towers, sits on the site where our local pub, The City Pride, used to be located.
