London - Day 8: Tower Bridge Lift, Paddington Station, Abbey Road, Lords, Camden Town, Hotel - 11 July 2020

A super early start this morning!  I checked out online to see if Tower Bridge was lifting while we were in London, and we were in luck!

Today was the day!  We set an alarm for 5:35am, got dressed and wandered down to Tower Bridge to see the Schooner De Gallant head up river at 6am, then back down river at 6:30am!  Super exciting for the boys to see this!

After a wee snooze back at the hotel, we readied ourselves for another day of adventures!

The Tube took us from London Bridge to Paddington Station, which, like many other things here in London, has changed loads!  The life-size bronze Paddington statue is now located on platform one under the big clock. This is where Mr and Mrs Brown first met Paddington in the movie.  No more Paddington Cart, instead a large shop selling everything Paddington.  I didn't feel they were as nice as the original ones I bought 20 odd years ago sadly.  A few souvenirs purchased and we were off to our next destination of the day, Abbey Road Studios.

The obligatory photograph walking across the pedestrian crossing that features on the Beatles Abbey Road album cover was first, before a few pictures outside the studios and a visit to the studio shop.

From here we wandered down to Lords Cricket Ground, sadly there was nothing open so we could only sneak a peak from a high point over the fences.

Refreshments followed at the Duke of York pub in St John's Wood to rest our weary feet and legs, before walking past the London Zoo and on to Camden Town to get the Northern Line all the way back to London Bridge.

A visit to Tesco Express (right next to hotel), for some salads a few things for dinner, then up to our room to rest our feet and eat!
