It feels strange writing this, knowing that tomorrow is the day we are due to fly home to NZ from Vienna!! We are so far away from that right now with our flights cancelled by the airlines and the NZ Government putting a halt on anyone booking new flights to NZ until 28 July so they can clear the back log of people in quarantine hotels in NZ!!
Today we met a couple of old work colleagues of mine from KPMG Canary Wharf, Tracy and Emma. It was lovely to see them again after so many years. Both have been to NZ since we left NZ, but it was many years ago now.
We took the Jubliee Line from London Bridge to the O2 Arena (Millennium Dome) and met Tracy and Mike at the Slug and Lettuce first. We had a lovely time catching up over a bite to eat and a drink or two, then met up with Emma and Matt, along with their gorgeous two year old girl, Millie. After a brief catch up, Tracy and Mike headed off, and Emma thought it would be a great idea for us to walk up over the Millennium Dome!!! Crazy stuff - we didn't even know this was a thing!! We had to get kitted up with safety gear before heading up on to the Dome! Its a 30 degree gradient up and down. It was amazing!!
Afterwards we met up with Matt and Millie, again at the Slug and Lettuce, as it was pretty much the only place open due to Covid-19. A few drinks and nibbles here, before saying our goodbyes and heading back to our hotel.
