Ben Nevis Hike by Brad and Cale, Scotland - 19 August 2020

Today Brad and Cale hiked up Ben Nevis.  Nico was super disappointed not to be going too, however the walk is fairly rough and takes about 6-7 hours return.  Cale admitted about 75% of the way up, that if he'd known it was going to be as hard as it was, he wouldn't have done it!

An early start saw them leave our campsite around 7am to drive to the Ben Nevis Visitor's Centre, arriving there around 8am.  By the time parking was paid and they were on their way up the mountain it was around 8:30am.  The walk up took about 3.5 hours with the final 1.5 hours of the walk pretty rough and tough going over rocks etc.  After waiting to take pictures at the 'top', and a few other pictures they were on their way back down.  The trip down took just over three hours and was hard going.

The weather was super kind to them which was great, as this was the only day that was available for them to do the hike.  Even at the top the weather was fine with fantastic views.  The forecast indicated about 11 degrees at the top, and Brad said it was cold but not too bad.

A massive achievement for them both and am super proud of Cale for backing himself and persevering in this huge challenge!!  The sore muscles, blisters and 100s of midge bites are all worth it in the end!
