Oban and Oban Whiskey Distillery, Scotland: 20 August 2020

We've had it all here in Scotland amongst Covid-19!!  First there was the huge electrical storm in Edinburgh, and then last night we had gale winds that have continued today which took a few awnings down during the night!

We booked a tour/tasting at Oban Whiskey Distillery for today at 11:30am.  We were able to taste their 14 year old whiskey out of the bottle  first, followed by a taste straight from the cask.  Our guide said that if he had to put an age on the cask one, it would be about 10 years but that it still needed plenty more time in the cask to refine the flavours.

The process to make the whiskey at Oban is only about 5 - 7 days, then it is left alone in the cask for 14 years!

The distillery is small and sits right in the centre of Oban. The rest of Oban was built up around the distillery with the last addition to Oban taking place in the 1800's.

After our tour/tasting we went for a wander up the main street before heading to Piazza on the waterfront for pizza lunch.

An easy going day given the rain this afternoon. Brad and Cale rested up after yesterday's big adventure!
